Learning Through Movement (sight words)

“I want to do this at least 21 more times!!!”

It feels so good to listen to laughter coming from your child as they learn.  Making learning fun creates life long learners.  When children use their whole body and movement as they learn,  they are more likely to retain the information.   I’m always looking for ways to make learning fun and active.

“Mommy, your school is so fun!!”

I printed and laminated the sight words, attached them to yarn, and used tape to hang them from the ceiling.

During our first round, I would say a word (show him where it was) and he would swing and pull it off the ceiling.  After one round he was able to identify the words and he took the lead – swinging to and pulling off the words – then telling me what words he pulled off.

Don’t have an indoor swing?  Just use this as inspiration to get your children moving to learn.
