Trays, we love our trays.  They are a great size, they keep things contained, they define a small space for play, and they can be easily stored underneath most beds.  For the longest time, however, I have wanted an office chair mat.  I initially wanted one when my son was younger to go under his art area, but I always found them kind of pricey….and really, he just wasn’t messy enough…..or interested in art enough to justify the purchase.

Enter Playmobil

…and the frustration that comes along with trying to stand up little people on carpet.  Sometimes it’s enough to discourage the play.

So, I did it.

Ahhhhhh, it’s the little things.

I finally purchased my office chair mat to remedy the problem.  Sure, he could play at a table, or in a tray, but both of those spaces were limiting because of the Playmobil cars and trucks that often have to travel far distances to pick up logs….or trash…..or whatever the imagination can muster.  Playing on the floor has always been my son’s favorite spot to play anyway.

RL soon followed and purchased one for her girls.

I also love it because it can be moved and it’s clear, so it does not look “cluttery” (yes, I made that word up).

Don’t have Playmobil?

We also love our office chair mat for……

What would YOU use an office chair mat for??

Dominoes?
A new art medium surface?

Under your art space?

Happy Playing!!

This is perfect! My mom swore by hers for same reason and it lasted YEARS!!M after toy-vile and kids grew out of it, she used it til it fell apart finally for its intended purpose! Thanks for sharing, I see now why it was so useful (& why we might need one too!)

Hi where did you get those transparent colored blocks ? Do you know who the mfg. is . They look super fun I would like to get a set Thanks

It isn’t totally play related but I actually put them under the kids chairs at the dining table to ease clean up and avoid the carrot puree globs from being flung directly on the rug.
I have one under the craft table too so i don’t have to scrub paint off the white bleached floor boards. :)

This is perfect. I was using a clear shower curtain liner under their art area but this looks more sturdy! What size is the one in the picture? the 47×35?
