Yes, we made our first ornaments already!  The girls wanted to create with one of their favorite recipes…

BAKED COTTON BALLS

I suggested Christmas Ornaments.

I had no idea if this was going to work but you never know unless you try!

They came out GREAT!!

All set up

For the Recipe please click on the BAKED COTTON BALL recipe above.

Instead of coloring the dough like we did in previous posts we left it white so the girls could paint them afterwards.

I gave my older two girls cookie cutters and my youngest a muffin tin.  I didn’t want her to become frustrated about fitting all the cotton balls into the shapes.

All filled up.

After they filled the cutters up with cotton balls we gently pulled the cookie cutter up.  Ours are plastic so they had to come off.  However, next time around we will probably just use metal cutters so we can skip this step all together.

YES- This did get a bit messy.  :-)

I transferred their creations to a clean baking sheet.  I figured it would be easier to clean before baking.

After they came out of the oven we waited for them to cool and painted them.

All finished.  Awesome!!

I took a needle and poked it through with some string for hanging.

We wrote the year on the back with black permanent marker.

I made baked cotton balls for the first time today. Pink heart ornaments using a silicone muffin pan, and “cupcakes” using paper muffin liners in a muffin tin. I’m going to try “frosting” the cupcakes tomorrow using a glue and shaving cream mixture!
